Precision Pace Setting: Surveyor Runs 26.2 Miles to Double‑Check the Distance

Ambition and determination come in many forms; one of the Balfours team is planning for – and entered in – the Dusseldorf Marathon this April.

Land Agent, Matthew Doyle has never run a marathon before! The furthest he has run is 22 miles around Lake Vyrnwy and that was to raise money as part of the Balfours team for their chosen charity CRY – Cardiac Risk in the Young.

Matthew explains: “For me my running complements my work at Balfours. I am currently managing a number of property refurbishments across Shropshire, Staffordshire and North Wales. There is also the management of community charitable assets in Staffordshire and North Shropshire. Agricultural and commercial work figures too; plus ongoing development of sites, including renewables.”

Now, Matthew is stepping up the pace: He runs four times a week, including a longer weekend run, continuously extending his reach and now notching up more than 15 miles.

He adds: “Together with my clients we set targets, whether it be bottom-line figures, or deadlines to open a new development – and achieving those targets is extremely satisfying. My work and running keep mind and body in balance, fit and fired up for each challenge that comes along.  This April, my goal is not only to complete the Marathon, which straddles the Rhine, but to complete it in as near as possible to three hours.”
