North Shropshire is home to charming market towns such as Oswestry and Ellesmere as well as many quaint villages and rural hamlets. The Llangollen canal passes through and the area is known for its beautiful countryside, natural landscapes and historic sites, notably, Chirk Castle and Whittington Castle.

North Shropshire is well placed for commuting. The A49 to the north takes you to the national motorway network to Chester, Liverpool and Manchester. The A5 to the south takes you to Telford, Wolverhampton and Birmingham. National railway services are available from Shrewsbury with various links to the north and south.
