Lindors Wood – Significant woodland in Wye Valley on the market

A unique opportunity to purchase 104 acres of woodland in the picturesque location of the Wye Valley has been launched to the market by Balfours.

Lindors Wood is available as a whole or in two lots. The woodland is managed commercially to produce an income from timber production and is an excellent investment opportunity, according to Balfours partner and agent Scott Kemsley.

He explains: “The land is located on the eastern side of the Wyre Valley. It is subdivided into two distinct sections. Lot one known as St Margaret’s Grove comprises 36 acres and lot two, Allen’s Grove extends some 68 acres. Lindors Wood has generally western aspects. With typical elevations range of between 50m and 100m above sea level.  The majority is gently sloping, except for only one steeper compartment in lot two.”

The woodland is stocked on an approximate ration of 60:40, conifer, broadleaf across its entirety. With the conifer including Douglas Fir, Norway Spruce, Western Hemlock and Western Red Cedar. The broadleaf species include Oak, Sweet Chestnut, Beech, Birch, Alder, Ash and Cherry.

There is a woodland management plan in place between the vendor and the Forestry Commission. This covers the period 2013 to 2033 and was produced by Pryor and Rickett Silviculture Ltd. Scott adds: “Currently following felling operations, restocking has generally comprised equal parts of Douglas Fir, Norway Spruce and plus 10% mixed broadleaf species.

“This is a rare opportunity in the stunning location of the Wye Valley. Situated less than 80 miles from Birmingham, Monmouth eight miles and  Gloucester 25 miles. It is an investment with exceptional appeal,” Scott adds. Balfours are marketing Lindors Wood with a guide price of £950,000, call 01584 707100 for more information and detailed plans.
