There is a free school transport service provided for students to the nearest primary school at Longnor and the secondary school in Church Stretton. The train stations at Shrewsbury and Church Stretton have links to Birmingham, Manchester and London. There are several international airports within easy reach.

The main house dates back to 1629 with 18th century additions, sympathetically added, together with a further extension during the 1980s. The house is constructed of roughly dressed red sandstone with grey sandstone ashlar dressings, under a 20c machine tiled roof. The interior affords collar and tie-beam trusses, timber framed walls, chamfered beams and joists with ogee stops.

The accommodation retains a host of original features to its oldest parts, some reinstated by the present owners. Offering scope for updating to certain areas including the kitchen, utility and shower room configuration. It has oil fired central heating and bespoke oak windows to some rooms. The dining room forms part of the earliest section of the house, with mullion window, an Inglenook, log burner, bread oven, beamed ceiling and exposed timber framework. From Shrewsbury, follow the A49 in the direction of Church Sretton. After passing The Bridge Inn, start to slow and take the next right turn (signposted Picklescott). Follow this road which takes you to Picklescott (passing the village hall on the right-hand side) and continue along on this road. As you start to leave the village, Stone House is the last house on the right-hand side, indicated by our for sale sign.
