Dedication drives agent’s career

Estate agent manager, Duncan Scobie, who was awarded the Sunday Times silver award, for best single office in the West Midlands, has joined Balfours residential sales office.
Duncan, who put down roots in Shropshire more than 30 years ago, has returned to the county following working abroad.
Today he is delighted to join the growing residential team, working within Balfours prestigious office in Shrewsbury’s town centre. Duncan acknowledges: “To be working in the heart of the county town with one of the county’s longest established and highly regarded agencies is excellent.
“The Square is a fabulous location with some wonderful historic architecture, in short, an excellent working environment. Furthermore, Balfours residential portfolio has significantly increased over the last 12 months, attracting a fascinating array of properties together with great clients. 
Ironically, Duncan’s introduction into estate agency was as a virtual apprentice, having spent one term at college after school, he realised college was not for him. Together with a fellow pupil they both landed jobs with an estate agency and he has never looked back.
Progression took Duncan through the ranks in Shropshire and the Midlands from humble beginnings to branch manager, before he was approached to start a new estate agent office, in Newport, Shropshire. “I had to set up the office from scratch, less than two years later we were the number one estate agent in town – and awarded the Sunday Times Silver Award for a single office in the West Midlands, in 2008.
Since then Duncan has spent four years in Thailand’s second city, Chang Mai, teaching at the University. Reassessing business finance – the time is now

Interest rates for fixed rate loans are at an historic low having continued to fall since the referendum. The Bank of England Base Rate has recently dropped to 0.25% and who knows how long this will last. So looking ahead it could be a good time for investment or to consolidate existing overdrafts or loans.
