Surveying and summits

Stepping-up to the challenge is in the blood for one of Shropshire’s up and coming land agents.  In recent weeks Charlie Adkin of Balfours has not only passed her Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors exams; but she has scaled the National Three Peaks, in 24 hours.

Her professional proficiency comes less than three years after joining Balfours as an MSc graduate in Rural Estate Management. During this time she has worked under the guidance of Balfours’ partner, Richard Jones-Perrott, himself a RICS assessor.

Charlie enthuses: “I very much enjoy the estate management work in Shropshire and North Wales – there are some beautiful estates which play a significant role in the ever developing rural landscape. Working with Richard has enabled me to build on both experience and confidence to deal with the many challenges which have come my way.”

Her latest feat was to ascend Snowdon in Wales, Scafell Pike in England and Ben Nevis in Scotland, more than 3,400 metres in total, all within 24 hours testing logistic skills too. Charlie’s appetite for keeping fit incorporates a number of half marathons, triathlons and this September she will embrace the River Dart for a ten kilometre swim.

Richard Jones-Perrott comments: “We are extremely proud of Charlie; she is extremely professional, diligent and a real people person; qualities which will take her far. To pass her RICS APC is an important milestone in her professional career.”

Charlie, who is just 26 years old, originates from the Cotswolds and now enjoys a work base at New Windsor House, Oxon, Shrewsbury with home in town too.
