Home vendors urged to optimise autumn harvest

Shropshire home owners are reassured that despite the pressure from Brexit on housebuilders and the housing market, this summer has revealed “business as usual,” according to one of the county’s leading estate agents.

Tim Main, head of sales at Balfours estate agency, says the market has been significantly stronger this year to-date, than in the last few years. He continues: “Our sales data shows the activity pattern for 2016 has totally mirrored the last few years, with Brexit having very little influence on sales.”

Mr Main adds: “Throughout the summer and especially during August we have had a steady stream of applicants registering with us because they are keen to buy in the area; furthermore they have the funding to do so.

“Significantly it is the fresh supply of houses coming to the open market that is not keeping up with demand.  Certainly, the current level of activity from prospective buyers should lead to a positive experience for vendors looking to bring their house to the market this autumn,” he adds.

Recent activity for Balfours includes the exchange of contracts on Chilton Cottage, a three bedroom cottage with an annex, situated near Atcham and with River frontage.
