County’s Seven Figure Homes – Market Indicator

Shropshire’s higher end, seven figure property market, has responded to the election positively according to one of the county’s leading estate agents.

Head of sales at Balfours Estate Agents, Alistair Hilton, says there have been more exchanges and offers accepted. Also they have undertaken more appraisals on behalf of prospective vendors in the first six weeks of 2020 than in the final three months of 2019.

“We have had a very strong January. February is more than matching it, but what is particularly marked is the increase in interest in properties on the market in excess of one million pounds. The Old Bell House set by the River Teme in South Shropshire attracted two buyers in the New Year and is now under offer.

Also to find buyers and exchange in the last six weeks are; Bow Bridge House, Shrewsbury - A large house requiring full restoration, set in 2.5 acres with planning for five new houses, marketed with a guide of £1.7 million. The Mount, Cressage - A country house with land, Coach House and swimming pool is also under offer, with a guide price of £1.5 million.

Alistair explains: “It is clear that there is much more confidence at all levels, purchasers are taking a view on minor hurdles within conveyancing and financing, dismissing those in preference of the common goal.

“Here at Balfours we pride ourselves on both understanding the very individual needs of our clients and also how the market is reacting; it is using this knowledge and experience which enables us to achieve positive sales,” he adds.
