Stockton Mill takes its name from the original water mill which was fed by the River Camlad. The period mill building with its internal machinery still in place provides a charming reminder of the past while the modern house, which was built in 1989, provides very practical, light and airy accommodation with attention to design detail including nine foot high ceilings, hardwood doors, floors and high quality decorative joinery, fixtures and fittings
A portico entrance opens into an impressive entrance hall with mahogany wall panelling, stairs and balustrades on the galleried landing above. The entrance hall gives access to the principal reception rooms all of which have views over the garden to the landscape beyond. The drawing room is elegant and well proportioned with a highly decorative marble surround and a Charnwood wood burner. Access to the conservatory adds further light and stunning panoramic views. Double doors from the drawing room open to the dining room creating a wonderful reception space for entertaining. The kitchen is fitted with a range of units and a central island. Integral appliances include a dishwasher, refrigerator and four oven oil fired Aga. The kitchen has been extended by the current vendors to take advantage of the views with a breakfast /dining area overlooking the terrace and garden. The pantry and the adjoining utility room provides further space for storage and appliances while the boot room gives access to the front and rear of the property and to the double garage beyond.
On the first floor the master bedroom suite includes a dressing room, well fitted with extensive wardrobes and currently used as a single bedroom. The en-suite bathroom is fitted with a central Jacuzzi bath, shower and his and hers wash basins. Bedroom 2 is en-suite with three further bedrooms and a family bathroom
Stockton Mill is approached via a sweeping tree lined driveway with parking to the front and side of the house. The beautifully landscaped gardens include open lawns and planting of glades and avenues of specimen trees including silver birch, paper bark maples and cherry. The two ponds are fed from the water of the River Camlad which borders the far boundary of the property. The garden, ponds and river provide a haven for wild life and otters and kingfishers being regular visitors. The terrace which adjoins the house and overlooks the garden is an ideal outside seating area from which to enjoy the views.
The original brick mill still houses the historic wheels from its working days and the external wall bears the mark of the old water wheel which has long since been dismantled. The original mill ponds have been filled in and now form part of the garden. The double garage which adjoins the house provides ample storage and covered parking.
