Situation: Aber Eden occupies an idyllic position in the hillside overlooking Mawddach Valley on the coastal fringe of Snowdonia National Park in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Aber Eden was built in 1876 and previously occupied by William Pritchard Morgan (the Welsh Gold King 1844-1924). Apparently he chose the site for Aber Eden when looking down the valley from the mine. It is no longer visible due to the splendid pines of Coed y Brenin Forest. Aber Eden is built of local stone beneath a pitched slate roof. It has well proportioned three storey accommodation with character, excellent natural light and high ceilings, the principal rooms facing east and south. Over the years, the property has been extensively and sympathetically restored and the accommodation as it is today has a magnificent
reception hall, drawing room, study, dining room, and kitchen/breakfast room with utility. There is also a superb fully racked out wine cellar.

On the first floor there are five bedrooms and three bathrooms. A further staircase rises to the second floor which could create a self contained annexe having a bedroom, bathroom and large office suite.

The property is surrounded by lawn with patio to the rear. There is a log store and detached garage. The grounds include area of shrubs with surrounding woodland, having mature trees, saplings and seedlings of a variety of species. The gardens include a three tiered walled garden with greenhouse, rose garden, productive vegetable garden and approx fifty trained fruit trees and fruit cages. The formal gardens contain a number of specimen trees planted by the current owners whilst an area to the north of the house has been awarded a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The property adjoins Snowdonia National Park, the forest having wild deer including roe, red and muntjac. In the winter, woodcock are seen in the area and there are numerous buzzards, woodpeckers and mistle thrushes.

The owners have a right to fish with one rod over one mile of the west bank of the Mawddach and Eden rivers. This includes a number of main pools. Both the Mawddach and Eden are well known salmon and sea trout rivers providing excellent catches between June and September.

Directions: From the Dolgellau bypass A470 proceed five miles north towards Porthmadog. After leaving the village of Ganllwyd proceed a further 200 yards and turn left through the stone pillared entrance which leads up to Aber Eden.
