Steady growth – new position in rural business
Balfours Property Professionals has appointed Craig Varley to the new position of business manager.
Partner at Balfours, Jonathan Lovegrove-Fielden, says steady growth within the company has necessitated the need for a business manager. “Craig is very well suited; he qualified at Harper Adams and has since worked in commercial and marketing roles within a broad range of agricultural sectors, giving him an excellent understanding of the multi disciplines our professional staff are involved with.”
Craig, who has lived in South Shropshire for 15 years began his career in the plant breeding industry, before progressing to agri’ public relations and marketing. Most recently he has spent nearly ten years as director of marketing of a global farm toy business – building close links with key machinery manufacturers and travelling throughout Europe, USA and China.
Says Craig: “I am delighted to be joining the Balfours team. This is a great prospect to work with a rural based business, which is where my interests lie and to bring to Balfours commercial and marketing skills. The fact that the core business is within the Midlands and Mid Wales is a bonus too.”
Married to Kate, who is a school teacher, he says the opportunity to work with a local business also enables him to be home more at evenings and weekends, to help exercise the couple’s horses and enjoy the Shropshire countryside.
