Printer Problems

Just to put you in the picture, I am sharing an office with Andy, who is the partner of Natalie, who shares the next door office with Trevor.

I returned from a rather good fishing holiday (OK, yes, another one) to find my perfectly good printer missing and a new one sitting in its place. Fine I thought, OK I thought but, when I tried to print anything, all it did was to make a lot of whirring noises with no printing at the end of it all.

broken_printerI tried all the usual things to make it work such as cursing it, thumping it with my fist and then ignoring it, all to no effect. I could hear Trevor chortling away in his office next door. I was just about to try one last thing and had already opened the window in preparation when Trevor popped his head round my door. He suggested that I should do the sensible thing and make a telephone call to the computer boffins. This I did and Dan promised to sort it out.

When I came into my office two days later, there on my desk was a different printer. Hooray. I gave it a try but, guess what, nothing. Again I went through my routine of cursing, thumping and ignoring, but all to no avail and more chortling from Trevor next door. Anyway it turned out that the computer boffins, instead of fixing me up with a brand new printer that worked, had simply given me Trevor’s old printer that didn’t, and had given him a new one.

Oh, now, hang on a sec, I think I can see why the phantom chortler was chortling. He shares an office with Natalie, I share with Andy, nice chap though he is, in my view he is definitely not as pretty as Natalie and I am saddled with Trevor’s cast off clapped out old printer. Hhhhmmmmmmm!
