Ban expanding foam

On a recent project the building contractor removed some dry lining to find a repair that had been carried out using class B engineering bricks in a stone wall. Clearly an old timber lintel had failed at some point in the past and the resultant void left when the timber rotted away was filled with some engineering bricks, which were neatly held in place by expanding foam.

This is not an acceptable method of repair and highlights how careful you need to be when selecting contractors to work on your property.
